How to colour grade videos

I watched this video in order to help me colour grade with Sony Vegas. I used this video for a guide of how to colour grade the video, I used the black and white filter to make it slightly darker to give it a more defined look, and then I further refined it but sharpening up the edges slightly by using "Sharpen".

Music video rough cut #1

Rough cut for my video For the final thing I'm also going to figure out a way to get rid of the watermark that Sony Vegas places. Like why would you even put that in your program

Editing the video together

I downloaded Sony Vegas to be able to edit away from school, also I'd be able to play around and test some effects for my video.

All of my footage

We started filming

I had to wait until the weekend before I could start filming, to give time to the other guitarist to get to mine.

Picture run through for my music video

I spent a lot of time developing the anamatic for my video so that when it came to editing it, I was able to do it quickly without hesitation. This is more of a guide to my camera angles that I'm going to use in general.

Inspiration from my lip syncing video

From the video of us lip syncing, we have a form of montage at the beginning of the video, with multiple camera angles with different things within them, jumping from one to another so it may also be a cut shot. I like the use of the of the camera that Luke did, where he wasn't static with it, and moved around to get a better angle. When it comes to filming my music video. (as Luke is helping me with the camera work) I want him to use the movements of the camera to make my video more fast paced and entertaining

Camera angles

After looking at camera angles from different videos of people playing, I've noticed that there are a few common angles that are used often by each and every different band. I wish to also use these angles but in a non-static state. The shots that are used focus on the guitar as the subject, and the majority of the time have the entire instrument on it, focusing less on the person playing, as the video is a guitar playthrough so it makes sense to focus on the guitar rather than anything else.

The first angle is a high angle shot from the POV of the headstock of the guitar, facing downwards over the strings and body

The second angle is a low angle shot facing upwards along the neck of the guitar

Another angle is a wide shot that contains the entire guitar and around 90% of myself

Misc-en-scene

When filming I decided to make the misc-en-scene for the background of the people playing, I used the typical items that make it seem like a group of friends getting drunk. I also included merchandise for the band and had a smaller pile for the black shirts compared to the white shirts, this is due to more black shirts being bought by fans rather than white shirt. Also a mobile phone, because this is a realistic music video and normal people own phones

Opening

We went to the park in a local area to go and find a place to film for the opening of my video, as I wanted to make the text appear through smoke, I smoked a cigarette on camera so I could edit it on After Effects. I also did this to stick to the stereotypes of a "rockstar".

Luck on my side

Trying to put these pictures into place is like playing Jenga. We went to film today and the scenery was seemingly perfect for us, we managed to catch a orange sky sunset and there was every a mass amount of fog too. How lucky is that?
